Juan Molina is a Peruvian born artist based in Victoria Australia. His art has a realistic approach to the natural world, opening a window to the viewer to the unimaginable complexity of form and colour that exists in living organisms. 

Juan’s creative process starts in the field, undertaking field observations of the subjects and their environment, making sketches, and also taking photographic records of behaviours that are too quick for the human eye.

In the studio, Juan likes to study the biology of the subject, this helps him to understand the subject’s anatomy, behaviour, and relationship with the surrounding landscape. He also starts experimenting with composition, colour, and light.

Juan works with watercolours, coloured pencils, and soft pastels which he chooses depending on the subject. He constantly experiments with new techniques that could help to tell a good story.

Quality is paramount for Juan, the best materials and surfaces are used to ensure lightfastness of colours and durability of the artwork and prints.
